PR at Heart of the Shires Shopping Village

Back in June, a time when the sun was shining, we took our display unit to the Heart of Shires Shopping village near Weedon on the A5 for a publicity event.

This was the second time we had been to the Heart of Shires, the first being when unfortunately the A5 was closed for repairs and very few people visited. Now if you have been on a Saturday, you will know that it is normally a thriving place with plenty of footfall. Not the Saturday we chose!

It was very quiet – even some of the shopkeepers we spoke with said they had never known it to be so quiet. Having said that we still managed to talk to a lot of people and give away some of our new keyrings and sticky-note pads!

It was really great to have so many members come to help on the stand – Arthur Hawker, Caroline Conway Hook, David Reeves, Jane Monk, Aidan Ward, Gordon Johns, Colin Mynott, Steve Groves and Henny Cameron. Special mention to Jane who had her Advanced Test the following day – and passed! Also to Colin who prepared a number of questions to ask members of the public to gain their interest. Finally to Caroline for cleaning the front of our unit!

As you can see from the photo, Steve demonstrated that he had hidden skills (hidden from Rita his wife!) – he can handle a broom very effectively.

Although quiet, it was a good day, we chatted to a number of people, and you never know when you have planted the seed in their minds that they would like to take their driving to another level. It may be next month or a year or so before they take up the challenge, but at least they know about us!

All in all, it was a great day, with plenty of fun as well as the serious business of promoting advanced driving and ourselves to the general public.
