We have been meeting regularly to evaluate the risk of restarting our face to face checkdrives and free taster drives. We have been extremely well supported by Aidan Ward, who as well as being an observer for our group, is Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Science at University of Northampton and a practising paramedic.
The main issue is the COVID rate in our main catchment area (Northampton) is considerably higher than the national rate. At the time of writing (18th August), Northampton has 122.9 cases per 100,000 people which is highest in the whole of England, the outbreak at Greencore contributes to this.
At the moment we have decided that the risk is too great, but will keep you informed.
We will also be holding an online session with our Observers to understand their views and what we would need to have in place to be able to restart checkdrives.
