10-Pin Bowling

Published on 23rd June 2023

On a very hot June evening we met up at the 10-pin bowling alley at Sixfields, Northampton. It was very clear very quickly that we fell into two main groups, those who were there just to have a good time, and those who wanted to win!!

We had two lanes for a couple of hours which mean that it worked out nicely with four players in each lane, and me the hanger on taking photos!

The main rivalry took place in lane one between Howard Main and Steve Groves, but Steve did keep checking across to the second lane where Rod Wyles and Paul were having their own battle!
After the first session, Howard was way out front with 111, Steve second with 97 and Rod (who organised the event) 3rd with 79. The intensity of Lane one increased in the second session, with Steve making great strides in catching Howard, however Howard managed just to stay ahead, winning by one point!

Rod’s wife, Lynne, had baked some amazing cup cakes for us all which went down a treat – thank you Lynne.

As well as the winners trophy that Steve presented to Howard, Steve also present a prize to Rita, his wife, for the lowest score (although that position was also hotly contested!!).
